No need to get cranky with the mercury soaring high. This summer, you can make amazing summer beverages without spending money on bottled water or unhealthy cold drinks to stay sane and calm. With a few simple ingredients, you can work up magical and refreshing summer coolers. You can make your own homemade coolers at home this season! Here are four must-try recipes:

  1. Watermelon and Mint Cooler

Watermelon and mint are a classic combination. Mint is one of the most popular herbs in the world, and it works especially well with watermelon because it adds an earthy flavour to this sweet fruit. For best results, we recommend using whole leaves rather than dried ones; they'll be easier to chop up once you're ready to make your drink!

You will need about 1.5 kg of skinned watermelon (deseeded and chopped into small chunks), Some fresh mint leaves, 150 ml of lime juice, and salt to taste. In a blender, blend all the ingredients together until the texture is smooth. Run the mixture through a strainer collecting the juice in a jug. Garnish with some mint leaves, add a couple of ice cubes, and serve.

  1. Peach and Basil Lemonade Cooler

This recipe is super easy to make and tastes like summer in a glass!

You will need 3 cups of chilled water, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 peaches (frozen or fresh), 2 tablespoon of lime juice, and some basil leaves. In a blender, blend all the ingredients with only 2 cups of chilled water until smooth. Run the mixture through the sieve. Pour the remaining cup of water and mix. You can also add ¼ tablespoon salt. In a serving glass, add a couple of ice cubes, pour the lemonade, and garnish with a lemon or a peach slice before serving.

  1. Raspberry Lemonade

This is a great drink for summer. It's sweet enough to be enjoyed by kids but not too much that you'll end up giving them an adult beverage. The lemonade makes it taste like you're drinking fruity water, which will help keep your children from getting thirsty while still being able to enjoy themselves at the party or barbecue.

Combine 200gms raspberries and ½ cup lemon juice in a blender and blend it until smooth. Pour the mixture over a strainer and collect the juice in a large bowl. Pour ½ cup more lemon juice, 4 cups of water, and 1 cup of sugar into the bowl. Mix well. Pour the lemonade into glasses with ice cubes and garnish with mint leaves before serving.
